A book requires you to turn the page.  The mechanical curvature arches ever so gracefully.  There is a beautiful instability in the way the page calmly sways.  How eloquently it teeters on a decision.  A silent invitation as the audience awaits the author's voice. In our own life, turning the page can feel quite easy at times or may feel very difficult.  The decision to advance, retreat or stand still is very much a mystery. The possibility of more questions can test one's source of internal comfort.

An instinct must be a part of a story, as it connects us with our sense of personal truth.  On occasion, we can lose our place in a book, continuing to stop and flip through attempting to find where we left off.  It doesn’t feel right to just jump forward.  It doesn’t make sense to start the book all over again.  So perhaps the book will sit at rest.

The mystery behind who we are.

Various amounts of energy cause a responsive action.  It’s a spectrum that includes positive and negative occurrences.  Both positive and negative feelings can create a motivation for change.  It’s a formula that no other person can predict or solve, perhaps not even you.  The reasons are that complex.  For instance, your responsiveness to bright light.  The answer most likely lies in your genetics.  Our genes influence how we react through brain function.  Imagine trying to write down through your decision-impacting genes why exactly you are where you are at this moment in time.  Take into consideration all of your dispositions, your susceptibilities and cognitive moods.  Don’t forget your mental, physical and environmental choices.  So this complicated puzzle is solely your mystery to own.  You are energy.  You are complicated.  You are an unclosed book.

Being responsive is a willingness to understand yourself.

A responsive person is moving.  They are seeking refuge in some form.  In order to turn from page 87 there must be a feeling of another person showing up on page 88.  That other person cannot be seen as a threat, nor a push-over.  They have to be interesting enough to pursue, yet show a truthful resemblance to one’s self.  That person will be you.  Being responsive is a willingness to understand yourself.  You will never be comfortable trying to be someone else living in someone else’s space.  Accept yourself for all you have endured.

How to talk to a stranger.

When we just exist, we fail to turn inward.  Do you ever feel like you are speaking with a stranger?  A stranger can show up from time to time within ourselves.  They tend to be very quiet.  It can be a challenge when speaking with someone you feel you don’t know.  When face to face you tend to be more kind and honest with yourself.  Speaking with the stranger in you will compel yourself to stand up for the beliefs that make you who you are.

Tell them about the world and how you see it around you.  Explain how the child in you is still a part of you today.  You will be speaking to a responsive audience.  All your hopes and vulnerabilities might unexpectedly shock you!  The best part, judgements and expectations fade into your own curiosity. Oftentimes, strangers can hear things we cannot hear ourselves.

Let's go somewhere.

There is a responsiveness when you begin to see how interesting your story can be. When physically holding an empty book, you encourage new ideas to emerge. As you turn the page, there is a natural progression of energy moving forward to contemplate the future. Pattern placement will line itself up in an advancing manner. Jot down your interests, a funny event or just short stories that pop into your head. When someone else has a great idea add it in. If it was worthy enough to grab your attention, then there is something important there. As time expands your story will, too. What unexpected plot twist is in front of you waiting on a resolution? Don't close your book on a stranger.
